My studio in Corneliano Bertario

I rented the granary at this farm in the countryside outside Milan in 2005. The river that runs along two walls of the building, probably from the 15th century, used to drive a millwheel. The building was full of mice and could only be used in summer, It was possible to work with large formats and to prime canvases and to experiment with pigments here, and the light was ideal. I developed a tempera based on casein tempera mixed in an emulsion with Venetian turpentine and linseed oil, which made it possible to obtain very intense colours and a matte surface.
