II Biennale of Salt sculpture in Petralia Soprana, Sicily

I was invited to participate in the II biennale of salt sculpture in Petralia Soprana. There is an old salt mine in the municipality, which was operated by Italkali, and which has been turned into a contemporary art museum, il Museo di Arte Contemporanea Sotto Sale (MACSS), in the summer of 2013. Petralia Soprana is a small town with almost only old buildings, perched on a mountaintop 800 meters above sea level in the Madonie, a mountain region a couple of hours from Palermo. In addition to sculpting, we artists and friends held an improvised concert singing Sicilian folk songs accompanied by guitar and accordion and pantomime. Contemporary art and old traditions.
